When did I first hear the name Clifford Lynn Hayes? It was while living in Flagstaff, AZ. I was doing research on my dad's family tree through Ancestry.com and received a message from Lynn Hayes. He said we had some ancestors in common. I didn't know who this guy was, but answered his email out of curiosity. This first email exchange began a 20+ year friendship with a man who I would come to look at as not just a cousin and friend, but an uncle (as he put it, even though I preferred "father figure"), lol.
Lynn knew a LOT about our family and had a treasure trove of information. Not just in paper form, but also in his brain. The man was a living, breathing, walking Hayes Family History book. Ask him a question about anything related to the Hayes's and he could almost call it up in a moment. Yea, sometimes he'd have to look it up, but hey, we're all only human.
We are all going to miss this man, our family historian, our friend, cousin, father, uncle, and so many other things that describe him. But because of his many years of research and contributions, we will always have our history!
